The Ice Bucket Challenge – Cold Bucket of Water

I’m delighted and pleased to announce that I’ve completed my ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and donated online. The best part was nominating my next victims who will continue the fundraising.

Being part of something that has been trending online in the past few weeks and creating a lot of laughs in the process is somewhat pleasing. If you’re yet to take on this challenge then you’ve got an icy cold bucket of water coming your way. The Ice Bucket Challenge began when co-founders Pat Quinn, Pete Frates, both who have the ALS Disease and Corey Griffin started the craze of pouring a bucket of ice cold water over your head while being filmed/video and then posting on Facebook and twitter within 24 hours.

I’m saddened to announce that one of the co-founders Corey Griffin sadly died a few days ago and drowned in an accident.

The Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has had millions raised since the craze began and continues to raise millions here in the UK in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and MacMillan Cancer.

Many celebrities have accepted their nominations to participate such as David Beckham, Sir Patrick Stewart, Mark Zuckerberg  and even World Famous ex-politicians such as George W Bush. 

Raising awareness for such charities that previously struggle to acquire the attention required to raise the tens of millions that other charities get on a regular basis. It certainly is heartwarming that Facebook gains praise for the good it can do rather than the bad press of the past on marriage break ups and divorce rates due to re uniting old friendships.

2014 will be remembered for amazing fundraising stories, such as #StephensStory and the ALS #icebucketchallenge it certainly beats the #harlemshake craze from last year.
