Darren Abbotts

Well it all started for me on the 8th November 1970 when I was born in Ashcombe House in Weston-super-Mare. Brought up in Weston I was educated at Oldmixon Primary School, Bournville Junior School and finished my education at Broadoak Secondary School leaving in 1987.

I Had an enjoyable childhood and did most things that young lads do. Still in contact with quite a few of the kids from school and the estate I lived on. My first job was as a Stock Controller for British Bakeries which was fun and as the years have gone by i’ve worked as a Fork Lift Truck Driver, Electro Plater and Security which is where i am now. In 1996 I married my Trish and we have 4 children, Sophie 17, Harry 15, Bethany 13 and Cameron whose 5.

Over the years I put a fair bit of weight on and in August 2010 I joined Slimming World and weighed in at 28 stone 1lb. Slimming World saved my life as I went on to lose a total of 14 stone 2lbs altogether on an incredible journey of great food and exercise.

My life now is so different and I love to run. Running is my passion and come rain or shine I will put the gear on and pound out some miles. I ran the Weston-super-Mare Half Marathon in 2012 and 2013 plus the Bridgwater Half Marathon in 2013. On the 27th October 2013 I also ran the Bleadon Level 10k for CLIC Sargent and raised £225.00

I hope to be selected for the Slimming World VLM 2014 team so fingers crossed.
